How to Load an MP3 Ringtone onto Your Phone

Move an MP3 ringtone from a browser or computer to the right folder on your phone.

Download from your phone

The simplest path is downloading directly on the phone. Preview the sound first, then use the MP3 download action. The file usually appears in the browser downloads area or the phone Files app.

On Android, you can often select that file as a ringtone after moving it to the right system folder.

Move files from a computer

If you download on a computer, connect the Android phone with a USB cable, enable file transfer, and copy the MP3 into Ringtones, Notifications, or Alarms.

Use Ringtones for call tones, Notifications for app and message sounds, and Alarms for wake-up or timer sounds.

Keep file names readable

Short readable file names make the sound easier to find later in device settings. If you download the same sound several times, delete unused copies to keep the list clean.
